A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin. A chemical peel can be used on the face, neck, chest or hands. The chemical solution is applied to skin causing an exfoliating process which will eventually peel off. The fresh new skin is smoother, less wrinkled, and has more even tones. There are three basic types of chemical peels we offer:
Superficial or lunchtime peel: This would be a mild acid used to penetrate only the outer layer of the skin for a gentle exfoliation. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discolorations, texture, and fine lines and wrinkles.
Medium depth peel: Glycolic acid is applied to penetrate the outer and middle layers of the skin. This treatment will help improve dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and rough textures such as acne scarring.
Deep peel: A TCA peel is applied to the skin surface to deeply penetrate the middle layer of the skin to improve deep wrinkle lines, dark spots, and shallow scars.
One of the greatest things you can do for your skin is a quick, easy, effective exfoliation. Would you choose a chemical or physical exfoliating treatment to help increase skin cell turnover, improve texture and tone, and help fight the signs of aging? AHAs, such as glycolic acid and BHAs, such as salicylic acid is great chemical exfoliates that can be found in your cleanser. Enzymes are another great form of a chemical exfoliate and can be found in facial masks. These don’t require a lot of effort but do offer a maximum result. Once applied, chemical exfoliants gently loosen dead skin cells and remove them. Physical exfoliants are a more popular way to exfoliate the skin by using scrubs, dermaplaning, and using a brush. These treatments work by combining tiny particles with the mechanical action of you hands to gently buff away dead cells. Scrubs are effective in smoothing you skin and help skincare products penetrate more effectively. Whatever exfoliating option is best for you, you are sure to notice the results of smoother flawless skin.
